Gosselin: Three reasons I'm picking Redskins in showdown vs. Dallas - Dallas Morning News

Columnist Rick Gosselin answered your questions in a chat Friday. Here are some highlights.

Thomas ... Goose! Who do you have winning this weekend? Dallas or Washington?

Rick Gosselin: Let's try this one more time: I like the Redskins because 1) it's a home game. 2) The Redskins have the NFL's best rushing attack and the Cowboys have an injury-riddled defense that is playing without its five best run defenders. 3) The Cowboys couldn't cover the Washington receivers on Thanksgiving day and that secondary also has some injuries that make Sunday an even more favorable matchup for Moss, Hankerson, Garcon & Co.

Tom ... Who do you like in the NFC/AFC championship games this year, and do you have a Super Bowl pick?

Rick Gosselin: Right now, I like Denver & New England in the AFC title game. The NFC champion the last few seasons has been a lower seed -- Green Bay was a 6 in 2010 and the Giants a 4 in 2011 -- so keep an eye on the lower half of the bracket. Seattle as a wild card intrigues me. I also find Green Bay and Washington interesting. They are playing their best football at the end of the season. Let's say Seattle and Green Bay in the NFC.

Palestine ... Talk about why peterson is so improved this year. Is it due to overall conditioning?

Rick Gosselin: For him to come back that quickly from a knee injury indicates the work ethic of Peterson. For him to come back from a knee with the best season of his career indicates the determination of Peterson not to have his own greatness derailed. This is a special back. He's always been a hard worker. For him to rush for 2,000 yards this season, everyone in the world now understands what makes him tick. He probably rehabilitated himself into the best condition of his life.
