Cowboys, Packers voted as "America's Favorite Teams" - FS Southwest

While a new poll on the NFL may back up the Dallas Cowboys' moniker as "America's Team," it also may require the team to adopt the nickname of "America's Most Hated Team."
 
In the Public Policy Polling group's second-annual NFL poll, released Wednesday, the Cowboys and Green Bay Packers tied as the favorite teams in the league among a group of nine popular teams, with each receiving 12 percent of the vote, followed by the Broncos and Bears at 10 percent and the Giants and Steelers at 8 percent.

The poll, however, also showed the Cowboys continue to be the "Most Hated" team in the NFL — Dallas repeated its 2011 "success" in this category with 18 percent of the vote. The Bears (11 percent) were second, followed by the Patriots (10 percent).

Another interesting question asked voters to pick their favorite quarterback. Voters were asked to choose their favorite among Tony Romo, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger, Tim Tebow, Michael Vick or "other."
 
Giants QB Eli Manning finished first with 17 percent of the vote, followed by his brother Peyton of the Broncos at 16 percent.
 
The Cowboys' Romo finished last amongst the group with only 3 percent, but perhaps the biggest surprise? The Jets' Tebow, first in this category in 2011, only finished third with 14 percent of the vote.

What wasn't a shock? The Eagles' Vick is, far and away, the "least favorite" quarterback among that group, garnering 27 percent of the vote — well above the Steelers' Roethlisberger, who got 15 percent.

The PPP poll surveyed 700 voters on a variety of NFL topics from Nov. 30 through Dec. 2. The margin for error in the poll is 3.7 percent.
