Falcons clinch home-field advantage - SB Nation

The Atlanta Falcons clinched the No. 1 seed in the NFC and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs on Saturday with their 31-18 victory over the Detroit Lions at Ford Field.

The Falcons dominated the game early, jumping out to a 21-6 lead at halftime, and put the game away in the fourth quarter with a touchdown drive after the Lions had cut their lead to five.

The win pushed the Falcons to 13-2 on the season, with the second-place San Francisco 49ers at 10-3-1 on the season. San Francisco and the Green Bay Packers are still in contention for the other first-round bye in the NFC.

The AFC home-field advantage is still up for grabs between the Houston Texans, Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots. The Texans currently sit in the driver's seat, and can wrap up that advantage this week with a victory over the Minnesota Vikings.
