New York Giants Banged Up For Finale - Rant Sports

Brad Penner — US Presswire

If the New York Giants defeat the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday, they will still need the Chicago Bears to lose to the Detroit Lions, the Minnesota Vikings to lose to the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys to lose to the Washington Redskins. With that many things needed to go your way, many people believe it is unlikely the Giants will make the playoffs.

Even head coach Tom Coughlin called the Giants' chances of a playoff berth "remote." With that in mind, some of the players have decisions to make. Do they rest up and potentially head into a long off-season with a lot of time to get healthy? Do they put their injuries to the side and play the game with hopes of still receiving a playoff berth?

Players that are banged up include DE Justin Tuck, WR Hakeem Nicks, RB Ahmad Bradshaw and CB Prince Amukamara. It is questionable whether any of them take the field against the Eagles on Sunday, but if they don't make the playoffs, they have a long off-season ahead to rest up.

This is why those guys should take the field on Sunday if they are able to. The Giants still have a chance at the playoffs, even though it's a small chance. If the Giants don't make the playoffs, their off-season starts Monday. If they do make it, they'll have to get back onto the field at some point.

The playoffs for the Giants started with their game against the New Orleans Saints earlier this month. They succeeded in their first game, but have played poorly ever since. If the Giants were to make the playoffs, who could they actually beat? Everyone has a chance as the Giants showed last season, but the players who played well last year have played poorly this year.

When it's all said and done, if you can play at 50% and contribute, play the game. You have nothing to lose.
