Harris said Tuesday he hurt the patella tendon and hoped to have surgery soon as he heads to injured-reserve status. He hurt the same knee during the off-season.

More running backs out
The Cleveland Browns placed running back Montario Hardesty on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season. Hardesty, whose NFL career has been slowed by injuries, underwent knee surgery earlier this month. Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart will miss at least the first six weeks of the season while he recovers from an ankle injury. Coach Ron Rivera said after practice Tuesday that Stewart was placed on the physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) list.
Griffin waits
Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III could be cleared to play in the regular season when he meets with his surgeon Thursday night.
Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said Tuesday that Griffin will meet with Dr. James Andrews while the Redskins are in Florida for their final preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"I know Dr. Andrews will sit down and evaluate Robert and probably just give us his recommendation," Shanahan said.
Even if Andrews gives the thumbs-up, the final decision on whether Griffin plays in the Sept. 9 opener rests with the coach. Shanahan has said that even if Griffin is medically ready, the coach could see something in practice that might give him pause.
