Throat slash gesture costs Dez Bryant $7875 - Green Bay Press Gazette

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant receiver $7,875 for making a throat slash gesture after scoring a touchdown last Sunday against St. Louis, a person informed of the fine told USA TODAY Sports.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the NFL does not announce fines until Friday. Players are typically notified of fines from the previous week's games by Wednesday.

Bryant told reporters in Dallas on Monday that he was expecting a fine, and when he received it, he would appeal.

Bryant said he meant to do a scissors motion to say "cut it out" but the action came across as a throat slash gesture. That move has been banned by the NFL since 1999.

"I shouldn't have done it," Bryant said Monday.
